IRON MAN: THE IRON AGE (part one) (1998)

Verrrry cool retrospective of Tony Stark's early days as Iron Man and head honcho of Stark Industries. The first part is told from the perspective of Pepper Potts, Tony's long-time executive assistant. Neat play between Tony and cousin Morgan, and insight on how much of a playboy Tony actually was at one time! Slight revisionist IM history: Tony and Prof. Yinsen build a gold suit of armor (not gray) and there's no "skirt" on the featured gold armor. But, big deal! Enjoy Busiek's storytelling, because it's completely refreshing after the last 14 volume one issues and most of volume two's!

IRON MAN: THE IRON AGE (part two) (1998)
Cover art: Patrick Zircher. Script: Kurt Busiek, Richard Howell. Art: Patrick Zircher/Bob McLeod.
This second half of the story is told from Happy Hogan's perspective (Tony's long-time pal and former chauffeur). See the first red and gold suit featured, as well as the birth of Roxxon Oil!! Great spy intrigue aboard the S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier with Happy as the unlikely hero! Busiek's storytelling shines once again.
