Featuring the following heroine!

Crystal

First appearance: Fantastic Four 45

Team affiliation: One of the Kree-engineered Inhumans, Crystal has twice been
a member of the Fantastic Four as well as an Avenger. Originally involved with
Johnny "Human Torch" Storm, her severe allergies to the air-born pollutants forced
her return to Attilan, the Inhumans' Himalayan home. On the way home, she and
her teleporting companion Lockjaw stumbled upon a severely injured Quicksilver.
Taking him to Attilan and nursing him back to health, the two fell in love and were
married. Marriage to the short-tempered, not-always-entirely-sane son of Magneto
is no picnic, however; Crystal has separated from her husband several times.
There have been hints of romance between herself and her brother-in-law, the
Vision, and a more serious relationship that developed between the Inhuman and
Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. The kidnapping of Crystal's and Pietro's daughter,
Luna, brought the two back together although the relationship remains testy.
Crystal was again separated from her spouse when she was one of a number of super-heroes absorbed by Onslaught, leaving Pietro alone with his daughter and his own (short-lived) series.
Favorite quote: "Oh, Pietro, my darling ... as always, you do not listen." (Marvel Onslaught Universe, right before Crystal flung herself into the energy matrix that was Onslaught. Lousy comic in a just-for-profit crossover event, but an accurate one-line summation of Crystal's and Quicksilver's entire troubled relationship.)

Powers: After exposure to the Terrigen Mist, Crystal developed elemental powers, meaning she was able to control the four classical "elements" of earth, wind, fire, and water. This control appears to be psionic in nature, although she often accesses her powers by shooting energy beams out of her hands. She can generate small earthquakes, control waves, and whip up gale force winds as needed. Ironically she refused to allow her daughter to be exposed to the same treatment, knowing that the mutations caused by the Mist were unpredicable and fearing that Luna might turn into something very much other than Inhuman. The result is that Magneto's granddaughter, the offspring of a powerful mutant and a mutated Inhuman, is herself "only" human.

Favorite storyline: The first four parts of "Bloodties", which ran through the Avengers and X-Men titles. The kidnapping of Crystal's daughter offered a rare chance for the Elemental to cut lose, and showcased Crystal's awesome talents. The last part of "Bloodties," alas, saw her reduced to a near cameo role as all she could do was plead for the life of her child. As if she couldn't have used her powers to suck the air out of Cortez's lungs and just picked Luna up when he keeled over!

Least favorite storyline: Crystal spent most of her first Fantastic Four stint pouting at Johnny, and most of her second moping over his recent marriage. The end result in both cases was that she saw very little action; an utter waste of a character who has the potential to be one of the more powerful heroines in the Marvel universe.
