Jocasta
First appearance: Avengers 164.
Favorite quote: The first words she spoke to her husband, Ultron, got that relationship off to a rocky start: "I love you, Ultron! I exist only to love you, to serve you, for so I was created -- and thus, I must destroy you!" (Avengers 171). My very favorite quote, however, is from the mission that made her an Avenger: "The only way you're getting past me is over my deactivated body!" (To the Taskmaster in Avengers 196. He did not pass!)
Team affiliation: Jocasta hung out with the Avengers after refusing to help Ultron destroy the group, although she wasn't officially asked to join until Avengers 197. She also has a history with Marvel's underused hero robot, Machine Man. (And if Ultron ever finds out about those two, the sparks will fly...literally!)
Powers: Ultron gave Jocasta complete defensive capablities, including a force field, energy beams emitted from her eyes, and some mysterious internal workings that enable her to resist being disrupted by the Vision's intangiblity powers.
Favorite storyline: Loved her confrontation with the Taskmaster in Avengers 196!
Least favorite storyline: Although I like Machine Man (I have all 19 issues of his regular series!), I didn't care for his 2020 mini-series in large part because I didn't like Jocasta's passivity or the fact her sleek, George-Perez-designed body had been replaced by a clunky new one, constructed with Ultron's discarded trunk. (Talk about your close relationships, though!)
