Featuring the following heroine!
Polaris
Real Name: Lorna Dane
First appearance: Uncanny X-Men #49
Favorite quote Polaris: "I'm not a porcelain doll, you chauvinist worm."
Havok: "Pig. Chauvinist pig." Polaris: "Worm, buster. I like pigs." (Uncanny X-Men 218, when Havok told her not to overstrain herself. Just because she was picking up a small jeep at the time...)
Team affiliation: When Polaris first appeared, she was accompanied by Magneto and Mesmero. Under Mesmero's mental influence, she held the belief that she was the daughter of Magneto. "Magneto", however, turned out to be an android. When released from Mesmero's control, she turned on her former partners and aided the X-Men. She has fought alongside the X-Men several times, and once had a relationship with Bobby Drake, AKA Iceman. Originally, she was a reluctant super-heroine who found a sympathetic ear in Havok, another super-powered being who hankered after normal life. The two retired together, and for a long time managed to live comparatively normal lives as graduate students. It's hard for mutants to stay retired, though. Polaris was dragged out of retirement by Eric the Red, and again when possession by Malice forced her to became a member of Mr. Sinister's Marauders. Yielding to the inevitable, she and Havok joined the government's team of mutants, X-Factor.
Powers: Her control of aspects of the magnetic spectrum gives Polaris powers very similar to that of Magneto's. She may eventually rival him in power.
Favorite Storyline: X-Factor 105, where she fights Malice to the death for the sake of Havok.
Least favorite storyline: The weirdness that happened on Muir Island when the Shadow-King took over in Uncanny X-Men 278-280 and X- Factor 69-70. Never could quite figure out what that was all about, other than an excuse to get a bunch of mutants to fight each other.
