Featuring the following heroine!

                                       Sharon Carter

AKA: The Girl (since it was years before S.H.I.E.L.D. allowed her to tell
Captain America her real name). Agent 13.

First appearance: Tales to Astonish 75

                                       Died in: Captain America 237

Got better in: Captain America 445, making her the first in the
current "resurrecting characters dead for two or so decades"
                                       trend.

Favorite quote: "You're talking like a child, Rick! Cap and I are both pros at what we do! That means we don't panic at every little excuse!" (Captain America 115; Sharon chides Captain America's sidekick Rick Jones for interrupting a weapons testing session just because Cap has gone missing.)

Team affiliation: After years of hearing tales of Captain America from her sister Peggy, Sharon signed on with S.H.I.E.L.D. hoping to emulate her hero. Little did she expect to actually run into him during an early mission, when the dread substance Inferno 42 threatened the free world. Cap was struck by Sharon's resemblance to his long-lost love from World War II, a leader of the French resistance, who turned out to be -- you guessed it -- Peggy. After several missions together, Cap tried to propose to her, but Agent 13 cut him short by saying duty to their country had to come first. Captain America promptly retired, announcing his identity to the world; he promptly un-retired and made sure a Steve Rogers mask was discovered when it was clear that the bad guys weren't going to respect his non-active status. The two had a spat when Sharon refused to leave S.H.I.E.L.D. so they could be together; despite that, she was eventually able to see through the ruse of the Red Skull when the Skull used the Cosmic Cube to switch bodies with Rogers. The many adventures Agent 13 and Captain America shared came to an abrupt end when an undercover assignment went horribly awry; sent to infiltrate the neo-Nazi National Force, Carter was brainwashed by Doctor Faustus and was thought to have killed herself rather than be captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. As it happened, her death was faked. Although she now professed to loathe Steve's "boy scout" morals, she still helped save Rogers' life when the super-soldier formula was killing him. The two then faced yet another Cosmic Cube and worked together to clear Steve's name when he was accused of treason.

Abilities: Sharon is a martial arts expert and a weapons specialist, which led to her using some heavy ordinance in her most recent appearances. Her talent for disguise made her one of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s top undercover agents.

Favorite storyline: Captain America 115-117; faced with Steve Rogers in the Red Skull's body, and
under the influence of the all-powerful Cosmic Cube, Sharon still possesses the strength of will to
not kill the man she loves.

Least favorite storyline: Poor Sharon hasn't had a lot of respect over the years. One of the earliest
non-powered female characters who could handle herself in a fight, much of her dialogue in the
1960s still sounded like it came from True Romance. Her over-orchestrated death was hard to
believe; someone who could resist the Cosmic Cube couldn't resist Dr. Faustus' mind-altering gas?
That being said, and as much as I liked the pre-Hero-Reborn Captain Americas, that slang-talking,
big-haired, harsh and bitter woman who showed up in Captain America 445 wasn't even close to
being Sharon Carter; it was a brand new character that happened to have her name. Rather than be
turned into another modern-day bad-girl bimbo with an attitude, Sharon should have been left to rest in peace.
